Week 3 Lineups & Falcons v Packers Preview

Listen to the episode ↗

Chris Harris runs through Week 3 injury fallout (Barkley, Puka Nakua, Zay Flowers, DJ Moore, and injured/backup QBs like Caleb Williams, Jaxson Dart, Jayden Daniels) before Jeff Bell of FootballGuys joins to debate five hard-to-rank players (De'Von Achane, Rashee Rice, Bryce Young, the Cleveland/Carolina skill players, and Drake London) and preview Falcons-Packers. The show closes with DFS expert Jake Trowbridge sharing Week 3 DraftKings lineups built around backup QBs, cheap tight ends, and pivot plays.

This episode of the Harris Fantasy Football Podcast is built around two things: a rapid-fire Thursday morning injury and lineup-decision briefing from host Chris Harris, and a guest segment with Jeff Bell of FootballGuys walking through five players who are genuinely hard to rank in Week 3. The through-line is that Week 3 is full of noisy, contradictory signals — practice reports, one-game samples, backup quarterbacks — and the hosts repeatedly argue for discounting small samples while still being forced to make start/sit calls now.

The arguments

Wednesday practice reports are close to meaningless, but the injury list is deep enough that you need contingencies now. Chris runs through Saquon Barkley (neck stinger, limited early-week info), Jadarian Price (conflicting chest/shoulder reports, with Emmanuel Wilson as the direct insurance add), J.K. Dobbins/R.J. Harvey (hamstrings, muddled further by Jonah Coleman's ankle issue), Puka Nakua (McVay's hedge reads as "not playing"), Zay Flowers (Rashod Bateman as the one-to-one deep-league fill-in), and DJ Moore, who Chris says he will start outright if active. He also flags three banged-up quarterback rooms — Bears (Caleb Williams out, Case Keenum penciled in over Bagent), Giants (Jaxson Dart out for the season, Jameis Winston in, with Nabers/Likely/Skattebo still startable), and Commanders (Jayden Daniels out long-term, Marcus Mariota stepping in, with McLaurin/Diggs ranked ahead of the Bears' skill players despite the downgrade).

De'Von Achane's ranking is a genuine disagreement rooted in volume versus results. Jeff Bell has Achane at RB10 despite calling him "wrong" to rank there, arguing the volume argument only produces an RB23 season-to-date finish and that a true pessimist could drop him to RB18 behind names like Kyren Williams, Bucky Irving, and Chuba Hubbard. Chris lands slightly lower at RB12; both agree that if you drafted Achane early, you have no real alternative but to keep starting him.

Rashee Rice's role has structurally shrunk now that Kansas City's run game is functional. Jeff notes Rice is only WR26 on the season and that nothing in the Chiefs' usage patterns suggests a shift back toward feeding him as a run-game extension. Chris agrees the offense no longer needs Rice to be the "only creator," and both rank him right around WR26, startable for this week's Miami matchup on touchdown equity alone, not underlying trust.

Bryce Young has earned a real ranking bump, but both hosts want another data point before going further. Jeff argues Carolina's aggressive passing volume against Atlanta (not just Chicago) signals a real offensive philosophy shift, and he has Young at QB13; Chris independently landed at the same spot. Both flag the Jahmyr Gibbs precedent — a two-game hot start that didn't hold — as the reason they're resisting pushing Young into low-end QB1 territory yet.

Quinshon Judkins is being overrated by public rankings relative to what Cleveland's offense is actually doing. Jeff has Judkins at RB24, below FootballGuys' consensus of RB17, while simultaneously acknowledging Deshaun Watson (QB12 on the season, Chris has him lower at QB28) and Denzel Boston (WR10 on the season) are outperforming expectations. Jeff and Chris both treat Boston's rise as unproven — good in flashes, not yet trustworthy — while agreeing Jerry Jeudy/Cedric Tillman-type volatility makes the whole Browns passing attack hard to project.

Drake London's outlook flipped the moment Michael Penix replaced Cooper Rush. Jeff moved London up to WR13 now that a competent quarterback is throwing to him, while Chris has him even higher at WR10, both citing Penix's strong 2025 support of London as the baseline case. Chris needles Jeff for underselling how easy this call actually was once Penix was confirmed healthy enough to start.

Green Bay's backfield remains unusable, and the offensive line is bad enough to cap the passing game too. Jeff says none of Josh Jacobs' replacements — Marshawn Lloyd, Emanuel Wilson, Chris Brooks — deserve volume trust given the Packers have never funneled real work to Brooks despite liking him in the passing game; both hosts keep all three outside their top 40 for the week. On the pass-catching side, both agree Christian Watson and Matthew Golden are usable specifically because Green Bay's line is so poor it forces catch-up passing.

What it means for your roster

  • If you have Barkley, Price, Dobbins/Harvey, Nakua, Flowers, or Moore, treat Wednesday's report as noise — hold your insurance pieces (Emmanuel Wilson for Price, Rashod Bateman for Flowers in deep leagues) but don't bench the injured starter until active/inactive news lands.
  • Start Case Keenum-led Bears skill players and Jameis Winston's Giants weapons (Nabers, Likely, Skattebo) for this week only — Chris explicitly says don't make a season-long decision yet.
  • Rank McLaurin and Diggs (27/28 among receivers) ahead of Odunze/Burden (33/34) — Mariota's presence is judged less damaging than Keenum's.
  • Achane and Rice are both must-starts if rostered despite modest per-game ceilings (RB10-12, WR26) — don't bench them, but don't pay up to acquire them in trade either.
  • Bryce Young is a streaming QB1 option this week (QB13) against Cleveland, but wait for a third data point before trusting him as a weekly starter.
  • Drake London is back to a firm WR1 start (WR10-13) now that Penix is confirmed over Cooper Rush; sit Kyle Pitts elsewhere if you have better options.
  • Avoid all Packers running backs (Lloyd, Johnson, Brooks) this week; use Christian Watson and consider Matthew Golden as a flex given Green Bay's offensive line problems will force pass volume.

Players in this episode

Puka Nacua · WR, LAR

↓ Did not practice Wednesday and Sean McVay expressed uncertainty about him playing in Week 3's Sunday night game; hosts lean toward him sitting.

Jaxon Smith-Njigba · WR, SEA

↑ Trowbridge's most expensive DFS player this week, a lock for his lineup regardless of price.

De'Von Achane · RB, MIA

→ Jeff Bell called him the toughest RB to rank — heavy volume (RB23 on the season) but poor efficiency in a struggling Dolphins offense; ranked RB10-12 but could argue as low as RB18.

Saquon Barkley · RB, PHI

→ Suffered a neck stinger after being landed on by three defenders but returned in the second half; expected to possibly return to rankings once Eagles practice info comes in.

Kenneth Walker · RB, KC

↑ Trowbridge's top DFS stud at $7,400, paired with a cheap Dolphins defense in his lineup.

Drake London · WR, ATL

↑ With Michael Penix returning at QB instead of Cooper Rush, hosts feel much better about him and moved him back into lineups, ranked WR10-13.

Jayden Daniels · QB, WAS

↓ Not ruled out for the season yet but expected to miss significant time with a twice-dislocated elbow; Marcus Mariota takes over.

Caleb Williams · QB, CHI

↓ Ruled out for Monday night vs Eagles; Case Keenum expected to start, and hosts are not optimistic about Bears' skill players (Odunze, Burden, Loveland) with him under center.

Rashee Rice · WR, KC

↓ Bell argued his usage pattern has changed now that KC's run game is strong, questioning whether he's still a true WR1/2; ranked around WR26 by both hosts despite touchdown-heavy matchup vs Miami.

Zay Flowers · WR, BAL

→ Did not practice; new coach said he has a good chance to play but hosts want to see him actually practice/play before trusting it; Rashod Bateman is the deeper-league replacement.

Jaxson Dart · QB, NYG

↓ Likely out for the season, hurting outlook for Giants pass catchers; Jameis Winston steps in with some rushing upside but volatility.

Quinshon Judkins · RB, CLE

↓ Both hosts are lower than consensus on him (ranked RB24) due to lack of efficiency despite volume; still used him in DFS lineups at a discounted price vs Carolina.

DJ Moore · WR, BUF

↑ Limited practice with shoulder/neck injury; hosts say if he's active, they will not sit him.

RJ Harvey · RB, DEN

→ Also limited with hamstring issue, adding to Denver backfield uncertainty.

Christian Watson · WR, GB

↑ Both hosts agree he's a must-use receiver tonight against Atlanta despite Green Bay's offensive line issues.

J.K. Dobbins · RB, DEN

→ Was limited in practice with hamstring/cramps but Broncos downplayed severity; backfield picture remains muddled with Harvey and Coleman also banged up.

Dalton Schultz · TE, HOU

↑ Priced cheap again at $4,200 after a big game with 7 catches in garbage time last week; Harris used him again in DFS.

Jonah Coleman · RB, DEN

↓ Top waiver RB target of the week did not practice at all due to an ankle injury, clouding his outlook.

Matthew Golden · WR, GB

→ Usable tonight, though usage tends to ramp up only after Packers fall behind and need to catch up.

Bryce Young · QB, CAR

↑ Showing real growth and increased passing volume/explosiveness through two games; both hosts rank him ~QB13, wary of small sample size before fully buying in.

Denzel Boston · WR, CLE

→ Currently WR10 on the season; hosts are cautiously buying in after strong camp reports translated to production, but want more proof before fully trusting him (ranked WR27-40 range).

Jaydon Blue · RB, PHI

→ Mentioned only as part of injury tracking with a chest/shoulder designation that's changed; Emmanuel Wilson is the insurance handcuff if he sits.

Keon Coleman · WR, BUF

↓ Had a good game vs Detroit but hosts didn't trust it as a waiver add, and he didn't practice Wednesday, adding uncertainty.

Deshaun Watson · QB, CLE

↓ Currently QB12 on the season but Bell/Harris remain skeptical of his play (Harris has him QB28), worried about temptation to re-sign him long-term.

Chris Brooks · RB, GB

→ Most involved in passing game among Packers RBs but has never been given real early-down volume, making the muddled backfield hard to trust in fantasy.
