DFS Show Week 2: What stacks MUST be in your lineup?

Listen to the episode ↗

Devin Knotts and Phil Alexander break down the DraftKings Week 2 main slate, highlighting Cowboys-Commanders, Ravens-Saints, and Bears-Vikings as the top games to target while noting several key injuries (Zay Flowers, Nico Collins, Wan'Dale Robinson) still up in the air. They debate cash vs. GPP plays at each position, push back against overreacting to Week 1 samples, and close out with favorite stacks and value/discount plays.

This is the DraftKings Week 2 main slate breakdown from Phil Alexander and Devin Knotts, built around one core argument: week two is a trap for lineup builders because half the field will overreact to one-game samples, and the real edge is in fading last week's storylines (both good and bad) while using Vegas totals and injury-driven target redistribution to find value.

The arguments

Wide receiver scoring is concentrating at the very top of the position, which should push DFS builders toward three-running-back roster construction. Devin cited that in 2024 Ja'Marr Chase outscored the next-closest receiver by nearly 100 points, and in 2025 Puka Nakua/Jaxon Smith-Njigba separated similarly from WR6, while WR4 through WR26 have become largely interchangeable week to week. Phil agreed this has pushed him toward three-RB DraftKings lineups even on a full-PPR site, since the pricing gap at the top of WR doesn't match the shallow talent cliff below it.

Don't overreact to week one — both good and bad performances. Phil's central thesis was that half the field jumps to conclusions off one game, so there's an ownership edge in ignoring blowout/bust narratives. This underpinned multiple calls: fading Chuba Hubbard-type "boring" plays that quietly dominate touches, and specifically targeting Luther Burton and Colston Loveland again this week despite week-one duds, since public perception lags the underlying opportunity.

Cash game quarterback splits Devin and Phil. Devin preferred paying up for Lamar Jackson ($7,300), arguing week one performance suggests 2024 MVP form is back, with Dak Prescott ($6,400) as a safer fallback if the Cowboys-Commanders game scripts as a shootout. Phil instead hammered Brock Purdy ($6,200) as a high-floor, low-variance cash play given a two-touchdown home spread over Miami, dismissing concerns about Purdy's low rushing upside as irrelevant to floor.

Injury-driven target vacuums are the week's biggest cash-game value plays. With Nico Collins likely out, both hosts liked Dalton Schultz ($3,200) against a tight-end-friendly Cincinnati defense, and Jalen Noel/Jaylin Knoll as complementary Texans WR value. With Zay Flowers questionable, Mark Andrews becomes a strong play if Flowers sits, and Aaron Jones ($5,100) was called a "free square" now that Jordan Mason is on IR.

Contrarian quarterback stacks in the highest-total games carry real GPP upside. Devin pushed hard on Jaden Daniels ($6,300) with Terry McLaurin, projecting only around 4% ownership despite Washington-Dallas being a potential shootout, arguing the field is concentrating ownership on Dak/Lamb/Pickens and ignoring the other side. Phil similarly liked Ja'Corey Croskey-Merritt as a lower-owned running back play in that same game environment, and floated Bo Nix in the Denver-Jacksonville over/under as another shootout candidate.

The Ashton Jeanty and Miami-Cleveland "homecoming game" plays split the hosts. Phil was comfortable rostering Jeanty ($6,800) off his 35.7-point week-one game and 81% backfield touch share, framing him as underpriced for one more week. Devin pushed back, arguing Miami and Cleveland are so noncompetitive that these games tend to end with the winning team pulling starters and taking the foot off the gas rather than running up 59-3 type scores, making the "blowout" upside less exploitable than raw point totals suggest.

What it means for your roster

  • Build three-RB DraftKings lineups this week given the hosts' shared read that WR4-26 is fungible while elite WRs separate — prioritize RB scarcity/floor over chasing mid-tier receiver ceiling.
  • Claim/roster Dalton Schultz ($3,200) and Jalen Noel/Jaylin Knoll ($3,700) as direct beneficiaries if Nico Collins sits; both hosts independently landed on Schultz as a top value tight end.
  • Cash-game quarterback: take Brock Purdy ($6,200) for floor or Dak Prescott ($6,400) for shootout upside; avoid Lamar Jackson pairings with Mark Andrews unless you're comfortable fading a big chunk of the field, and stay away from stacking too much Minnesota exposure with Carson Wentz in cash.
  • GPP build around Jaden Daniels/Terry McLaurin/CeeDee Lamb as a low-owned (~4% projected) shootout stack in the Cowboys-Commanders game, per Devin's favorite stack call.
  • Consider Ashton Jeanty as a fading window — Phil says this is the last week he's price-efficient under 7K, but Devin's skepticism about Miami/Dolphins garbage-time dynamics is worth weighing before overpaying into ownership.
  • Cheap value/GPP darts: Casey Concepcion ($4,100), Demario Douglas ($3,800), and Chase Wilson-style burton dead-cat-bounce plays (Luther Burton, Colston Loveland) are the hosts' explicit picks for filling out low-owned GPP rosters this week.
“He's like the quarterback version of Adonai Mitchell, said no one ever.” — Devin Knotts

Players in this episode

Bijan Robinson · RB, ATL

↑ Liked in cash especially if Cooper Rush plays for higher receiving upside; Devin prefers him with Rush over Michael Penix.

Ja'Marr Chase · WR, CIN

↑ Devin targets him at $7,600 for cash, noting he's historically a slow Week 1 starter who breaks out in Week 2 the last four years.

Christian McCaffrey · RB, SF

→ Debate over reduced second-half-heavy usage last week (possible cramps or load management) versus Kalen Black, but still viewed as a strong RB1 play if he scores vs Miami.

Jaxon Smith-Njigba · WR, SEA

↑ Considered a pay-up contrarian GPP play at $8,100 despite Drew Lock at QB, with Phil projecting his ownership lower than Jefferson/Chase.

Derrick Henry · RB, BAL

↑ Devin likes him after a strong performance against a tough Colts run defense, projecting multiple touchdowns alongside Lamar Jackson especially if Zay Flowers sits.

Lamar Jackson · QB, BAL

↑ Devin's top cash QB target at $7,300, betting on a return to 2024 MVP form, paired well with Derrick Henry for combined touchdowns.

Ashton Jeanty · RB, LV

→ Phil likes him at $6,800 off an 81% backfield touch share and 35.7-point game last week, though Devin is uncertain given how bad Miami's opponent quality inflates numbers.

Justin Jefferson · WR, MIN

↑ Phil's top cash WR, citing strong target share/production with Wentz over their last five games together and a favorable matchup vs Chicago's leaky secondary.

Drake London · WR, ATL

↑ Phil says at $6K he's a great value if Michael Penix plays, citing strong per-game numbers with Penix last season (10 targets, 7 catches, 90 yards).

Jayden Daniels · QB, WAS

↑ Devin's GPP pivot at $6,300, projected around only 4% ownership despite a potential shootout with Dallas, citing rushing floor and cheap weapons around him.

Chris Olave · WR, NO

↑ Devin views him as a strong GPP value at $7,200 (cheaper than Chase/CeeDee Lamb) with upside to be a top-5 receiver against Baltimore.

Bucky Irving · RB, TB

↑ Devin highlights him as the clear bell cow after outproducing Kenneth Gainwell in targets (7 catches to 1), a strong cash play at $6,100 against a weak Cleveland defense.

Colston Loveland · TE, CHI

↑ Phil likes him to exploit Minnesota's zone coverage soft spots over the middle, calling him a potential problem for their defense this week.

Garrett Wilson · WR, NYJ

↑ Devin likes him at $6,000 in cash, noting strong weighted opportunity (air yards/targets) comparable to JSN and Puka despite modest box score stats.

Dak Prescott · QB, DAL

↑ Devin's preferred cash QB pivot if Lamar isn't affordable, citing 300-plus yard upside in a potential shootout vs Washington.

Luther Burden · WR, CHI

↑ Devin likes him again as a boom/bust GPP play at $5,700 since Minnesota is more vulnerable through the air, expecting the public to fade him after a quiet Week 1.

David Montgomery · RB, HOU

↑ Both hosts like him as a GPP play with Nico Collins out, dominating touches roughly 70-30 over Woody Marks with 100% of red zone carries vs Cincinnati.

Brock Purdy · QB, SF

→ Phil strongly likes him as a cash QB given a huge implied team total against Miami, while Devin fades him expecting a run-heavy game plan with McCaffrey and Black.

Christian Watson · WR, GB

↑ Phil likes him as underpriced at $6,200 against a Jets defense with a good pass rush, calling him a game-breaker who finished top-5 in 30% of his starts last year; Devin is more cautious.

Chuba Hubbard · RB, CAR

↑ Phil notes he dominated snaps/routes with 87 all-purpose yards and two TDs last week and considers Carolina now his backfield outright, a strong GPP play vs Atlanta.

Aaron Jones · RB, MIN

↑ Phil calls him 'the first free square of the season' at $5,100 after Jordan Mason landed on IR, expecting a strong workload against Chicago.

Jacory Croskey-Merritt · RB, WAS

↑ Phil likes him as a low-owned GPP play after 17 touches last week, though notes a fumble-related benching risk versus Dallas.

Dalton Schultz · TE, HOU

↑ Top cash TE target at $3,200 if Nico Collins sits, expected to absorb redistributed targets against a tight-end-friendly Cincinnati defense.

Matthew Golden · WR, GB

↑ Seen as underpriced value at $4,700, out-snapping and out-targeting Watson last week with more air yards.

Carson Wentz · QB, MIN

→ Both hosts are wary of stacking too much Minnesota with Wentz in cash due to injury/turnover risk, though Jefferson production held up with him under center historically.
