SNF REAX + Week 4 Fantasy Takeaways

Listen to the episode ↗

Matt Harmon opens with a solo recap of Sunday Night Football, where Tedrow McMillan (16-14-192-2) and Bryce Young torched the injury-depleted Lions secondary, tying back to McMillan's push to play more slot/multi-alignment receiver. Harmon then teams with Josh Norris and Hayden Winks for a full game-by-game Week 4 breakdown covering CeeDee Lamb's monster slot-heavy day, Nico Collins' trickle-down impact, a wave of significant injuries (Saquon Barkley, Rashee Rice, Tyquan Thornton, Chase/Higgins, DJ Moore, Ashton Jeanty), and several breakout waiver-wire stories like Dante Myers and Emmanuel Wilson.

# SNF REAX + Week 4 Fantasy Takeaways — Yahoo Fantasy Forecast

This episode opens with a solo Matt Harmon recap of Sunday Night Football before expanding into a full three-host (Harmon, Josh Norris, Hayden Winks) game-by-game sweep of the rest of Week 4. The through-line across both segments is that offensive deployment and shifting target geometry—where players line up, not just raw volume—is driving the biggest fantasy swings of the season, while an unusually brutal wave of in-game injuries is scrambling backfields and depth charts across the league.

The arguments

Tedric McMillan's breakout is a direct result of being freed from X-receiver duty. Harmon traced this back to a February interview where McMillan said modern offenses need to move their best player all over the formation, name-checking Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Puka Nacua as the model. With Jalen Coker out, Carolina still didn't tether McMillan outside — he played a season-high rate in the slot, went for 192 yards and two touchdowns, and posted a perfect Bryce Young passer rating when aligned inside. Harmon credits new playcaller Brad Idzik specifically for this, calling him possibly even better than Dave Canales at getting the most out of personnel.

Bryce Young's big games against bad defenses should now be taken at face value. Harmon dismissed any skepticism rooted in Young's rookie-year stats, arguing those came with players no longer in the league (Adam Thielen, D.J. Chark, Jonathan Mingo). Against bad defenses this season he's "smashing cupcakes" — 8 yards per attempt, 110.7 passer rating — and Harmon projects him on pace for 5,400 yards and 38 touchdowns, stopping short of MVP but comfortable calling him a weekly fantasy starter.

Chuba Hubbard is one of the best value picks of the entire season. Harmon pointed to an 80% snap/touch share of Carolina's backfield work and RB8 fantasy-points-per-game production from a player many drafted in the triple digits amid a hamstring scare, noting every running back above him in production was drafted in the first four rounds.

Nico Collins instantly fixes a broken Texans passing game, but the supporting infrastructure is still the problem. Hayden Winks argued Collins' return had immediate trickle-down value (two catches for 75 yards plus multiple drawn pass-interference calls), but the hosts agreed the linebackers and secondary are too thin to be a top defense, and the offensive line issues have killed David Montgomery as a usable fantasy piece — Norris explicitly said he'd sell low on Montgomery given the lack of explosive opportunities.

CeeDee Lamb's monster slot usage against Houston was schematic, not incidental. Winks detailed how Dallas deliberately moved Lamb into the slot a season-high 38% of the time specifically to exploit Houston's linebackers and safeties, calling it an excellently game-planned win and reinforcing that the Cowboys' back-seven defense remains exploitable for any opposing passing game.

Puka Nacua's return and George Kittle's post-Achilles workload are both the real thing, not small-sample noise. Nacua looked fully involved (12 targets) in his first game back, though Aaron Donald... was not mentioned — rather Norris flagged the "pre-hernia" terminology on Nacua as a real risk to monitor. Meanwhile Kittle ran 60 of 66 snaps and is now, per Norris, a top-two tight end given his explosive-play profile and the age/health question marks around Mike Evans and Deebo Samuel.

Widespread in-game injuries (not just underperformance) are quietly reshaping backfields and receiver rooms league-wide. The hosts flagged a long list — Saquon Barkley's hamstring, Rashee Rice and Tyquan Thornton for Kansas City, Jaylen Waddle's offense still frustrating under Bo Nix, DJ Moore's shoulder, Pat Surtain's knee — as a dominant Week 4 theme, arguing that managers are being hurt more by players getting hurt mid-game than by players simply posting zeros.

What it means for your roster

  • Start Bryce Young as a weekly QB1 and buy into Tedric McMillan as a top-12 dynasty/redraft receiver given the newly confirmed slot role, even once Jalen Coker returns.
  • Hold or buy Chuba Hubbard — the hosts consider him one of the best values on any draft board and he projects as a weekly RB1-caliber player as the clear 80%-touch back.
  • Sell low on David Montgomery; the offensive line and Woody Marks/goal-line role erosion make him unreliable even in good matchups.
  • Target Nico Collins as a must-start and treat C.J. Stroud as a streaming/low-end QB2 option given his clean turnover profile, while staying cautious on Houston's defense as a season-long asset.
  • Prioritize CeeDee Lamb and George Kittle as locked-in weekly starts; Kittle specifically graded as a top-two tight end given his snap share and role in explosive plays.
  • Monitor Puka Nacua's "pre-hernia" injury note closely before fully trusting him in lineups, and treat DJ Moore, Rashee Rice, and Saquon Barkley as multi-week question marks rather than quick returns given how each injury occurred in-game.
“It's so easy to take a receiver away out of the game nowadays.” — Tedrow McMillan

↑ Posted a career-high 10 receptions plus 80 rushing yards on 84 snaps, cementing himself as a true three-down, pass-game focal point.

Nico Collins · WR, HOU

↑ Returned from injury and immediately dominated with 7-118-2, confirming he's the clear top receiving option in a thin Texans passing game.

Rashee Rice · WR, KC

↓ Left the game early with a hamstring injury after just one catch, further thinning an already shallow Chiefs receiver room.

Bucky Irving · RB, TB

↓ Ran more routes but got zero targets while Sean Tucker vultured a goal-line touchdown, raising concern he's entering boom-bust RB2 territory.

Bryce Young · QB, CAR

↑ Threw for 2 TDs and a 110.7 passer rating vs. Detroit, continuing a pattern of smashing weak defenses and putting him on pace for ~5,400 yards/38 TDs.

Sean Tucker · RB, TB

↑ Scored on a goal-line plunge after the staff publicly said they wanted to get him more involved, cutting into Irving's touchdown equity.

Emanuel Wilson · RB, SEA

↑ Handled 75% of Seattle's backfield touches for 120 scrimmage yards and 2 TDs in his first extended look, looking like a legitimate waiver add.

Tyquan Thornton · WR, KC

↓ Was Kansas City's best downfield weapon with two long TD-setting catches before suffering what looked like a season-ending ankle injury.
