Tony Pollard

RB, TEN

Pollard enters the season as Tennessee's lead back on paper but in a genuinely contested backfield, sharing early-down and passing-game work with Tyjae Spears behind a shaky offensive line. He closed last season strong as a rushing volume play, but nearly every current take frames him as capped-ceiling with real week-to-week bust risk rather than a locked-in RB2.

The two-week arc is almost entirely negative and remarkably consistent: Yahoo's Matt Harmon, The Late-Round Fantasy Football Podcast, and FantasyPros all cite Spears' equal-or-greater preseason work and poor receiving efficiency (sub-0.8 YPRR) as reasons to fade him, with FantasyPros' Erickson dropping him out of his top 36 entirely. Fantasy Football Today has been the lone semi-defender, noting his strong close to last season and floating him as a low-end flex, though even there Dave has him as his lowest-ranked back some weeks. No show has argued he's underrated — the debate is only over how bad the outlook is, from 'wait and see' to 'avoid entirely.'

The line: Treat Pollard as a touchdown-dependent flex, not a startable RB2, until the Spears split clarifies. · updated Sep 13

Ankle issue clouds his outlook in a crowded backfield with Spears, but the underlying Titans run-game efficiency plus a juicy matchup vs. the Giants keeps him startable if he suits up — monitor practice reports before locking him in.
